Welcome to Art N Soul Designs

Art N Soul Designs is a small glass studio located in northern Nevada. We specialize in kiln-formed, fused glass art. We create unique handcrafted pieces in a variety of forms from jewelry, plates, and bowls to vases, clocks and light sconces, just to name a few. We use a combination of opague and transparent fusible glass in a wide range of colors and patterns and often incorporate a speciality glass, called dichroic glass, as well as iridescent glass, to add sparkle and interest to our pieces.

The glass is heated in a kiln at high temperatures to fuse the layers of glass and then cooled slowly (annealinng) in the kiln to prevent thermal shock (rapid, uneven temperature change which causes stress in the glass and breaking of the glass immediately or in the future.) The dichroic glass is a speciality glass on which a coating has been applied that transmits one color and reflects another. The two colors shift in the light and create some amazingly stunning presentations. There are many technical descriptions online about dichroic glass and the process used to create it (originally discovered by the aero space industry.)  Just know that we like to incorporate it in our work as we love the appearance it creates.
